I’m on this crowded train to work with a lunch bag, a gym bag and a purse. Two of my bags are on the seat next to me. I look up and I see the MTA courtesy counts campaign. “Be a space saver. The less space your things take up, the more room for everyone” I actually enjoy what they did and think it’s important. But all I’m saying is I’m losing this weight one way or the other. If my bags take up a seat or two extra, you’re just going to have to ticket me. I told you all before I’m so serious about this journey!
I started to take more fitness classes. In my professional life, I am a Deputy Center Manager for NYC Department of Parks and Recreation. My recreation center has a full fitness area, fitness classes, basketball gymnasium etc. Pardon my shameless plug but if any of you in NYC are looking to get fit on a budget. It’s a low cost alternative. I’ll include a link below.
Because of this I have access. I’m now averaging 2 classes a week, cross-training and boot camp. My other workouts are done at my local gym and feature a combination of cardio and strength training. I decided to purchase that membership despite the price because it was so convenient. As your making your fitness decisions be realistic with yourself. I knew that during the winter months, I was not going to hop on the train to go the gym but I would walk up the block!
I’ll give you the bad news first so that I can end on a good note. I had a few too many Ben and jerry’s nights. I also fell off the gluten free bad wagon. But overall I can see the progress. I’m still committed to all the things I’ve spoken about but this is a humbling process. It takes time to form a habit.
I have gotten a lot better at packing my lunch. I usually make it the night before or it’s leftovers from dinner. I include snacks such as nuts, apples etc. The strategy here is to have things that I can eat quickly. No matter how busy my day is I can steal away 5-10 minutes to enjoy an apple. Most days I bring either a juice or a mix of water, spinach, berries and chia seeds. I’ve spoken about my juicer but I have Ninja blender as well. For those busy days it truly comes in handy. Because I can walk around literally with that in hand.
This month just flew by. I can’t even believe it’s time for weigh in and measurements. Remember a couple days ago when I spoke about resilience. Well I’m being tested here, I only lost 4 pounds this month and 0 inches. I was disappointed when I got on the scale this morning. But I understand that this is lifelong journey and I’m just thankful to be loosing weight period. For those of you who are joining me in this process I urge you to stay the course. I got a text from one of my best friends earlier, “you came a long way sis, keep pushing.” And that’s exactly what I’ll do.
