Losing Weight With No Thyroid, Part 3


I have to surround myself with the best possible opportunity for success. Last week I was so humbled by this lifestyle change that I reached out to an old friend. He is very well versed in plant based eating and overall healthy living. I enlisted his help and here we are. It’s not a drastic change for me to go plant based. I was vegetarian for two years and even now I typically only eat chicken, turkey or seafood. He didn’t suggest a diet void of meats but rather one that featured vegetation at the base. The introduction of more vegetation as he said would decrease my cravings for the bad stuff i.e chips, candy and seamless! This week I had snacks that featured a mix of cucumbers, avocados, onions and tomatoes. My sweet fix is now satisfied by grapefruit with a little agave to curb the bitterness. I have an amazing roommate who is invested in my overall success. She’s the cook. But what I love about this lifestyle is that everything is really simple. If you’re not a cook like me or are short on time. Most of these recipes require little time or preparation. What’s also helpful is that many of the vegetables I eat raw…

I started to write this yesterday but I didn’t have an opportunity to post it. But after what happen earlier this morning, it’s a good thing I didn’t. I went to the doctor for a follow up. The nurse got me on the scale. After a month or so of “trying”, I learned in that moment that I didn’t lose weight and in fact I had gained 8 pounds. At this point, I’m defeated and disappointed. I’m so desperate to make progress and honestly I’m afraid to fail. This is the hardest thing I’ve ever done.
